What Is Crime Victim Compensation?
Crime Victim Compensation (CVC) is a Colorado state-funded program that helps victims of violent crime cover certain out-of-pocket expenses. This program is not based on income and is available whether or not charges are filed against an offender. If you’ve experienced a crime, you’re not alone and you may be eligible for financial help to support your healing and recovery.
What Can It Help Pay For?
If approved, compensation can help cover:
- Medical and dental treatment
- Mental health counseling
- Loss of wages due to injury or court proceedings
- Funeral or burial expenses
- Replacement of doors, locks, and windows damaged during a crime
- Childcare needed so you can receive medical or legal support
- Travel costs for court appearances or medical appointments
